Lady Plumb Award Winner

Thank you to all those who nominated a young person for The Lady Plumb Award. It was fantastic to consider nominations for individuals who have already achieved outstanding results and who have so much dedication, commitment and passion.  Nominations this year predominately ranged across the Performing Arts.

It was a difficult choice as they could all be deserving winners, however it was Olivia-May Street who took the prize for her outstanding achievements in double-mini trampolining.  Olivia-May recently won the British Championships, and has since been selected for the World Championships in Bulgaria as part of Team GB.

The prize for winning The Lady Plumb award is £1000 which Olivia says will help towards the costs of competing in the World Championships.

A presentation evening was held on 27th October where The Lady Plumb presented Olivia with a cheque.

Mrs Eileen Bishop from The Coleshill School nominated Olivia-May for this award, stating that “over the past two years, through hard work and determination she has become the current English Champion, British Champion and the West Midlands Champion.  She came 4th in her first international competition, placing her highest British Girl in her age group.  She has since been selected for Team GB in the World Championships making her the only age 15/16 girl to be invited.  Olivia also coaches young children in recreational classes 4 hours per week in addition to her own gruelling training schedule of 10-12 hours per week”.

Mrs Bishop also added that Olivia “works hard to keep on top of her school work, and is well on target to receive excellent grades in her GCSE’s in 2018”.  In considering a winner, It was these three aspects of Olivia’s nomination: Personal achievements, commitment to helping others, and maintaining good progress at school that gave Olivia the edge over other nominations.  Well done Olivia-May, and best of luck in the World Championships !
